Overview: Commonly called Monte Carlo, it is a beautiful low growing aquatic plant which is grown by the aquarists. The easy maintenance and growing habit make it one of the best pants to use in the tanks. Micranthemum is originated from New Zealand and hails from the family Phrymaceae. The growth and appearance of the plant make it ideal for growing as a foreground plant. If the desired lighting, pH, and water parameters are maintained, the foliage shows wonderful growth and spread like a green carpet. At the same time, it requires a regular trimming to maintain the desired growth. It is often recommended for the new aquarists.
Appearance: Monte Carlo is a compactly growing creeping plant that creeps in the tank and produces small, round and beautifully bright and light green leaves. It can be used for aquascaping and giving a carpet like appearance to the tank by matching with a naturally toned substrate. Micranthemum ‘Monte Carlo’ resembles Hemianthus Callitrichoides (HC/Dwarf Baby Tears) to a great extent. However, the only difference is Monte Carlo is easy to grow, and its leaves are smaller. The plant may attain the height between 1-2”.
Hard/soft Plant: It is a hard plant.
Ideal water temperature: It requires the temperature between the range 18 to 2 degree Celsius.
Lightening conditions: Monte Carlo requires high lighting to keep it low growing along with carbon dioxide injection. If there are vertical growing thin stalks, it indicates a lack of lighting. However, if you provide sufficient light, the plant will attain proper carpet like creeping growth. Tallow leaves will indicate a lack of nutrients.
Ideal pH level: pH: 6-7.5
Do you know: The plant can propagate by cutting new growth along with the roots.
