- Lifespan:Â Auratus fish can live up to five years.
- Size:Â Auratus fish can grow to about four inches long.
- Coloration: Male auratus fish are black or brown with a yellow stripe running the length of their bodies. Females are slightly smaller and golden yellow with black or brown stripes that are bordered in white.
- Aggression: Male auratus fish are highly aggressive and will not tolerate other males or fish that look similar. To distract them, you can add fast-moving dither fish like rainbowfish to redirect their aggression toward other species.
- Tank:Â Some say a 55-gallon tank is the minimum, and larger tanks are better.
- Diet:Â Auratus fish will eat most foods, but a large portion of their diet should consist of vegetable matter like spinach and spirulina.
